Fashion and the City

It’s official: Sex and the City is going to be continued! That news was announced on Instagram by show main characters: Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte.

Why only three of four friends? Unfortunately in new series we won’t see Samantha. Actress Kim Cattrall didn’t wanted to be involved in that plot anymore.

The show under the new name And Just Like That, will reveal where are now our beloved characters. It is produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis with Michael Patrick King.

We know already that it is going to be filmed from this Spring, and we’ll be able to watch 10 30-minute episodes on HBO MAX.

Sex? City? Or maybe Fashion?

Same as half of Earth population I’m very excited about this news. It is for two reasons: I’m extremely glad that we will check on girls in their 50s since I miss their brave and thoughtful conversations on life and relationshops. Second of all – I’m pretty sure that they are still crazy fashionable!

Well then – would we be so in love with SATC if it weren’t a constant catwalk and style revue? We all remember outrageous outfits put together by the creative stylist Patricia Field.

To be Carrie

Carrie’s outfits were a topic of numerous articles and internet polls, and her extravagant choices were discussed widely from Tokyo to Rio de Janeiro.

Below I share some of my favorites:

Pink poetry

Another excuse for me to write this post was the pink Oscar de la Renta dress, worn by SJP in sixth season (in Paris). Carrie received it from Alexandr Petrovsky (played by Mikhail Baryshnikov) after she read about it in a magazine: ‘Sleeveless, silk, faille, full-skirted dress with black patent leather bow belt; now that is pure poetry.’

Fashion in a smaller city

Believe it or not but I was able to put my hand on a similar dress just few years later! I bought this gem – also Oscar de la Renta’s! – at girl’s beloved outlet store Century 21. Very similar color, suchlike cut… Every time I wear it I feel like Sarah Jessica Parker in one of the most iconic scenes in that series.

But since I didn;t have any current pictures in it (oh where are those parties to put on ‘pink poetry’?), without much ado I ordered a quick photo shoot made with my iPhone, despite it was freezing outside.

So before you start judging effects (and similarity to the original) please be kind and consider my devotion for the sake of this post 😉

To avoud being too classic, I matched the dress with suede over-the-knee boots (see them also in this post), wide patent leather belt and long leather gloves in bordeaux. Because the dress design is strong enough I treid not to overload it with accessories.
